Training Program Picks — Best Self-Selection Choices

What to take from Aniimo's Training Program self-selection chests: Behemoth Horn from the Rune Pouch, Shiny Warwolf for damage, and why iridescent Glaciva is the top iridescent pick.

The Training Program is Aniimo's structured progression track, and at several milestones it hands you self-selection chests — choose-one rewards that permanently shape your account. Pick well and your first month smooths out; pick badly and you spend weeks patching the gap. This page walks through all three selection points with the community's reasoning.

Selection 1 — Rune Pouch: take the Behemoth Horn

The Rune Pouch offers carried gear, and the correct default is the Behemoth Horn — the Breaker carried item.

The reasoning is arithmetic:

  • The damage-side item, Beast's Fang, is effectively free anyway — you receive one through the main story and a second from the five-day login calendar. Two Fangs cover most damage-side needs early.
  • The Behemoth Horn has no comparable free source in the opening stretch, and Breaker gear gates your boss-killing speed — which gates Champion's Seal income, which gates pacts.

In other words: take the item you cannot easily get, not the item the game is already raining on you.

Selection 2 — Gold Egg damage pick: Shiny Warwolf

The damage-side self-selection offers several flashy names. The community's pick is the Shiny Warwolf, and the reasoning is practical:

  1. It is rideable. Mount-type creatures change overworld travel pacing — you feel this one every single session.
  2. It is Fire-element with real elemental-reaction play. Fire triggers the game's ailment economy (see capture mechanics), so the Warwolf contributes to captures and boss windows alike.
  3. It slots into any roster. As an Attacker with mobility, it complements rather than replaces your core — see the team building guide.

Who else is on the list, and why they lose

  • Crimson Sword Rose — its defensive-counter skill has an awkwardly long cooldown for how often you actually want it; the power is real but the rhythm is not.
  • Starknight — a beautiful design having a rough launch window; current forms underperform the slot it competes for.

Neither is unusable — they are simply outvalued by a rideable Fire Attacker for a free-to-play account's actual week-one problems.

Selection 3 — Iridescent pick: Glaciva, and it is not close

The iridescent self-selection is the most consequential choice of the three, because iridescent forms are otherwise rare overworld or event captures. The community ranking:

1. Iridescent Glaciva — the default answer

  • Group healing — the best sustain in one slot.
  • Team-wide 15% damage amplification — a multiplier that makes every other investment hit harder.
  • Fits literally every team — the F2P core and the dark team both want it; so does every roster in between.
  • Hard to get otherwise — wild iridescent spawns in the opening regions are vanishingly rare, which is precisely why the self-select version is valued so highly. For free-to-play accounts it is the difference between having a real healer and not.

2. Verdant Blade Mantis — only if you are committed to dark teams

  • The dark-team main DPS, with stealth and displacement that make both bosses and open-world clearing fast.
  • If the dark team guide is your destination, this pick accelerates the trip by days.
  • Note: a wild boss-form mantis exists and arrives pre-enhanced, so the pick is valuable but not irreplaceable.

3. Helmbrave — for explorers

  • Melee burst plus a grappling-hook exploration skill that makes terrain traversal genuinely faster.
  • Choose it only if you value travel speed over combat value — its enhancement economics are famously poor (it is the standing "do not pact" example in carried gear & pacts).

Do not pick: Starknight, Crimson Sword Rose

Same reasoning as the damage pick above — current forms underperform, and iridescent versions of underperformers are still underperformers with sparkle.

The three picks in one table

Selection Take Because
Rune Pouch (gear) Behemoth Horn Fangs come free; Breaker gear does not
Damage pick Shiny Warwolf Rideable + Fire reactions + universal slot
Iridescent pick Glaciva Group heal + 15% amp; fits every team

When to deviate

Defaults are defaults, not laws:

  • Already leveling a dark roster? The mantis iridescent pick is defensible — even strong.
  • Hate slow traversal? Helmbrave's hook is a real quality-of-life multiplier for map completion players.
  • Planning a pure-fire roster? The Shiny Warwolf pick doubles down on a plan instead of covering a gap — acceptable if it is a plan and not a mood.

But if you are a normal account with no pre-existing agenda: Horn, Warwolf, Glaciva. Those three picks compose into the beginner roadmap without a single wasted day — which is what a self-selection reward is supposed to do.
